Jeff Koons is one of, if not the most recognisable names in modern and pop art today. Such is his popularity that he has twice broken the record for highest price paid for an art piece by a living artist ($58 million for Balloon Dog in 2013 and $91 million for Rabbit in 2019). The price paid for the balloon dog piece was actually for an orange version of it, as much like actual balloon animals Koons cleverly made several versions (5) in different colours. Difference being that instead of being the stuff of children’s birthday parties his balloon animals are large and distinctive stainless steel pieces that are displayed in some of the most prestigious art galleries around the world as well as public venues such as casinos. Of course one plus point of the best usa online casino sites is convenience, but in venturing out on occasion, a perk of bricks and mortar venues can be the chance to see amazing art works like these.
Koons’ style routinely gives a nod to popular culture and many see him as an important figure in the art world (in fact given the value of his works, it’s hard to deny that). At the same time though others view his work to be kitsch and gaudy in nature and view that his primary ability is that of constant self promotion. As with all art works the beauty or meaningfulness of them is of course largely in the eye of the beholder.
Casinos, and resorts, are without doubt also in the business of aesthetics, so it should be no surprise that Koons work has featured at some of them. Former Wynn Resorts CEO Steve Wynn purchased a Koons Popeye sculpture to the tune of $28 million for display at one of the companies properties (it was present in Las Vegas until 2019 then moved to Encore Boston Harbor). Wynn Las Vegas has also featured a Tulips piece by Jeff Koons. His work and that of other artists has in fact appeared around the world, and it’s again the case that while websites like site de jeu en ligne have some clear benefits, getting out and about in the real world has others. There is something special about being able to view valuable works of art without even needing to set foot inside an art gallery. Let’s hope this tradition of bringing important pieces of art to the public in various settings stays with us.
