Life Cube

A neat project in Vegas 2016. The Life Cube was a 24 by 24 foot plain white structure by Scott Cohen, the point of which was to attract artists and creatives in order for them to transform it. Within two weeks the Cube was transformed and in the process has attracted a community feel and vibe to the surrounding area. The structure was then burned to the ground, Burning Man style.

Casino Aesthetic

When most people think of casinos, they centre in on the casino games themselves, and of course we all have our personal favourites. For me it just has to be roulette. Sure it can be a bit of a ‘slow burn’ type game, but there are various strategies that can be utilised, and the rewards can be significant if your number comes up. On top of that there’s no great learning curve to go through to understand the rules. Others may like the psychological aspects of poker, some the bright lights and sounds of slots, or the snappy, fast paced nature of blackjack. These games whether played via faithfully recreated real money online casinos, or in bricks and mortar establishments are mainstays of casinos the world over.

Away from the specifics of the casino games themselves though, comes the venues that host them. Far more thought and effort has been put into the design of these environments than you might first imagine. For instance the lighting and lack of clocks are both used to disguise the passing of time (so that you’re likely to stay there for longer!). The visuals on the slot machines, it goes without saying, are designed to keep the excitement levels up and along with the accompanying sounds are almost hypnotic in nature.

Even online venues like the best online casino games seek to recreate the casino aesthetic of real life, and in general do a pretty good job of it. It’s not just a room’s lighting, layout and the uniformity of playing areas, cards and so on that are part of the casino aesthetic. It also extends to what the patrons of such venues wear. Sometimes casinos have a specific dress code in keeping with the look and the standard of the venue. Who can blame them when everything is ‘just so. I would say that the type of known image that oozes ‘casino class’ that many are going for is the Daniel Craig in Casino Royale look. I can’t say I’ve got that much to spend on my wardrobe to be perfectly honest, but I do my best!

Downton Abbey Slot by Skywind

Downton Abbey is a British television series, and it tells the tale of the Crawley’s aristocratic family. Skywind has developed a two 5×3 grid slot with 243 ways to win slot on this hit series. It has loads of Bonus features, including Free Spins, Bonus Game, Sub Symbols in Feature, and a Progressive Jackpot. The slots variance is high, and the RTP is 96.00%, with bets ranging from $1.00 to $100. The game fits right in on CasinoArt.co.uk , as if the Downton crowd aren’t about a certain aesthetic then I don’t know who is! The game is available on the best united states online casino sites, as well as those from the UK and elsewhere.

Downton Abbey Symbols

The slot gets broken up into two 3×5 grids, and the characters from the show are divided. The family and other aristocrats are on the top level, whereas the servants and other manual labourers get found on the bottom reel, clearly a hierarchy even in the slot game. There are also teacups, a pedigree dog and a floral hat on the top level and below deck is a scrubbing brush, a basket of eggs and a set of keys. The characters are the high paying symbols, with the penultimate symbols being Mrs Hughes and Cora Crawley paying 10, 25 and 80x the stake. Mr Carson and Robert Crawley reward players with a maximum payout of 100x the stake for 5 of the red character boxes.

Downton Abbey Bonus Features

Downton Abbey has 40 standard paylines on the bottom reel set, and when the bell lands on the circular activation zone within the reels, the top reel set triggers and comes into play. You then have up to 243 ways to win.

The game also has a variety of Scatter symbols. The first one is the red rose symbol, and this assists in triggering the Downton Abbey Flower Show Feature. Landing five or more of these scatters a feature where players get to match symbols is triggered, and there are 30 symbols to choose from when this occurs. The other features are the Duty Calls Reels of Wealth and the Manor on the Move Free Games feature. Whether you’re playing on the best online casinos south africa, or Europe, the US or anywhere, the game is likely available and is well worth giving a go. You don’t have to dress up like a member of the aristocracy when you play it, though it’d be kind of funny if you chose to!

Ida Summers

Las Vegas’s Vixen

Before we talked about ‘people as art’ and how¬† Charles Wells managed to embody that. The same in my view can be said for the notorious Ida Summers. One of the most widely known and successful casino cheats of all time is Ida Summers or the Vegas Vixen. A petite and attractive woman with bold cheating techniques earned thousands of dollars a day in Las Vegas casinos during the 1960s and 1970s, long before the advent of usa online casino culture.

Summer Cheating Techniques

It was her attractiveness that was among Ida Summers’s many cheating techniques. The dealers would get so distracted flirting with her that they did not realize she cheated them out of money. She also used the hand mucking method when she first arrived in Vegas. You muck your own cards by bringing in a few of your own, but you must make sure they perfectly match the cards the casino is using.

She would often steal cards from dealers or convince them to let her take one deck home so she could “practice at home”. Once she returned to the casino, she would hide the cards in her sleeve and swap them without being noticed to reach 21, Blackjack, her game of choice. She was clearly adept in her ‘art’. Nowadays with more and more online casinos around the world, such as online pokies australia, the likes of Ida would be frozen out of the ability to sneak on such trusted platforms.

After Ida became bolder, she used “cooler” as her new method of cheating. Blackjack shoes filled with pre-arranged cards were referred to as cooler or cold decks and were designed to beat the house. It was risky as it involved shoe swapping, but Summers managed to pull it off by recruiting a few male friends to help.

How did it end?

It is unclear how Ida Summers ended up being caught. It was assumed that she had been under FBI surveillance for several months, gathering sufficient evidence to prove her cheating. According to reports, one of her male companions tipped off the FBI. The Mafia controlled the casinos then, so IDA Summers did evade death as well; however, she managed to get off with probation.
